GUIDELINES FOR BULK KERBSIDE COLLECTIONS
HOW TO PRESENT THE BULK MATERIAL FOR COLLECTION
- Please ensure your bulk collection material is placed at the kerbside the night before your collection day;
- Material MUST NOT be placed out for collection more than a day before your service;
- Material must be placed as close to the kerbside as possible. To reduce OH&S risks, a truck with a small crane will be collecting this material. It is important that the material is within reach of the crane's arm;
- If bulk general items and bulky garden vegetation are placed out at the same time, they must be neatly placed in separate piles on the kerb and this will count as two (2) kerbside services;
- Small items must be boxed or bagged;
- Material must not exceed 1.8 metres in length;
- Vegetation is preferred tied in manageable bundles with natural twine.
- Stump and Logs must not exceed 30cm in diameter and should be cut to fit this size limit for Vegetation Bulk Collections.
METALS & WHITEGOODS
- All accepted metal items placed out for a Bulk Kerbside Collection, including Whitegoods are recycled as part of the Bulk Kerbside Collection Service;
- If you live in the Wyong Council area please place your metal items in a separate pile as these items are collected by a separate vehicle to ensure recycling occurs;
- Gosford Council separates the Metal items for recycling on-site before land filling the remaining products.
-
Fridge Buy Back Scheme:
Fridge Buyback is an energy savings program that actually pays you to help save the environment and reduce your power bills by giving up your old second fridge. To participate in the program, your fridge must be a working second fridge that has been in regular use, is 250 litres or more in size (8.83 cubic feet) and at least 10 years old. The fridges collected are professionally degassed and the metals recycled. Visit the Fridge Buyback website for further information.
HOW MUCH WASTE TO PLACE OUT FOR COLLECTION
- Households with a standard domestic service are entitled to six (6) bulk kerbside collections per year. A kerbside collection can be for garden vegetation OR for general household items;
- The maximum size of one collection is for two (2) cubic metres (1 small box trailer load) of waste. If you have more than two (2) cubic metres, you must book additional clean ups to cover the amount that you are presenting.
WHEN THE COLLECTION WILL TAKE PLACE
- Your bulk kerbside collection will take place on your NEXT GARBAGE BIN COLLECTION DAY provided that the booking is made at least one full business day in advance, otherwise the collection will occur the following week.
