Electronic Waste

Electronic or E-Waste is the waste associated with the use and disposal of electronic equipment such as computers, televisions and printers.

Australia does not currently have a national e-waste recycling scheme, although there are collection programs for some of these wastes on the Central Coast.

A recycling collection point for all types of electrical waste (or e-waste) is now operational at the Buttonderry Waste Management Facility on Hue Hue Road at Jilliby.

Click here for more information on Wyong Shire Councils E>Recycling service.

What is E>Recycling? E>Recycling is the recycling process of e-waste. E-waste contains heavy metals such as lead, phosphorus, mercury, selenium, cadmium and so on, along with other resources like ferrous metals, aluminium, brass and plastics that simply should not be buried in landfill. Old computer equipment often takes up valuable space. Recycling frees up this space in an environmentally friendly manner.

What e-waste can I bring for recycling? the following commonly occurring electronic equipment will be accepted: computer monitors, CPU’s, keyboards, mouses', computer peripherals, printers, fax machines, DVD and CD players, photo copiers, scanners, mobile phones, telephones & telephone switchboards, TVs, electrical & electronic switchgear, microwaves, leads, cables and similar electrical equipment.  We will not accept white goods.

Please Note: This collection is for household quantities only - for business E-Recycling options please contact Thiess Services on 1300 662 394
