School Excursion Booking Form

A visit to the Thiess Services education facility will enable students to understand what items can and cannot be placed within each of the 3 bins, what happens to recycling, garden vegetation and general waste after it has been collected and the benefits of recycling and reducing waste to landfill.

Students are able to view the recycling sorting process at our Sorting Facility via live CCTV cameras. Viewing the sorting process allows students to understand why we cannot recycle some items and the consequences of placing wrong items into the recycling bin.

Who should come on an excursion? Any Stage 2 or 3 Primary School classes are suited for our excursions. We can visit your school to speak with Stage 1 students. Any High School classes are also suitable. Our excursions are very relevant for Year 10 Geography students.

Time: Excursions are held between 9am and 12pm Monday to Friday. Each session will take approximately 1 hour.

Number of Students attending: The education facility can hold approximately 30 students at a time - if more students are attending they will need to be split into groups with 30 students visiting the education facility and other students going offsite - we are close to Somersby Falls & Kariong Eco Garden.

Excursion Location: Thiess Services Education Facility is located at 75 Pile Rd Somersby.

Conditions of School Excursion: Students must be under the constant supervision of teachers at all times.

$100 Bus Subsidies! Gosford and Wyong Councils along with Thiess Services are offering a $100 subsidy towards the hire of a bus to visit the education facility. To be eligible for a Bus Subsidy schools must be located in the Gosford City or Wyong Shire Council Local Government Areas.
